When you're observing a silence. It echoes on and on into the void, and gives you way too much time to observe the inside of your own head and emotions.
Though I'm just a whole lot too tired and overstressed of late, so I'm a bit emotionally up and down anyway. Didn't sleep again last night, which is Not Good.
In more cheerful news, less than 36 hours now to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...

I hope the much-awaited HP will provide you some days' relaxation and an escape from the blues. And better sleep, too. Sounds like you could need a break.
Alas I have to work at the weekend - one of my sources of stress, since the last two times I've tried to do part of this particular job, disaster has struck. Quite apart from the possibility of being struck by another software bug, or another power cut, this weekend is the biggest part of the task - copying 70 gigabytes of data from A to B and (hopefully) back again, and having a working system available for everybody to come in to on Monday morning. So I'll breathe a huge sigh of relief when it's over and done with.
I get two days off immediately afterwards in lieu of the weekend though, which will allow me to finish that nice book and crash. :-)
And right now, having had an hour long nap, a shower to eradicate the evidence of our hot muggy day, and an ice-cream, I'm feeling considerably more human than I did earlier in the day. Yay for creature comforts.
Oh, now that just ain't right. :) Although to be painfully honest, I have sometimes done the same. I think I'm so used to his beloved face (as well as his beloved voice, leather jacket, ass etc.) that the familiarity of it all can lull me into comforting slumber if I'm so disposed. Definitely have experienced the same regarding the computer keeping me awake when a DVD or a novel would have sent me to sleep. :/
Is that weekend job the same as what you were trying to do when there was that power cut a couple of weeks ago, then? I cross my fingers for smooth sailing! And two days off to read that book when everyone else is at work sounds like a nice compensation, at least. :)
And yes. Same job, different bit of the data.
